Use of AI Scribe Technology in your Consultation

What is AI Scribe?

Your doctor may use an AI (Artificial Intelligence) scribe tool, such as Heidi or MBS Pro, to support documentation during your consultation.

These tools:

• Listen to parts of the consultation (with your consent)
• Help your doctor create accurate clinical notes
• Save time so your doctor can focus more on you

How does it work?

• The AI scribe securely processes the conversation between you and your doctor
• It generates a draft medical note
• Your doctor reviews and edits the note before it is saved in your medical record

Important: The AI does not make decisions – your doctor remains fully responsible for your care.

Your privacy and confidentiality

We take your privacy very seriously.

• Information is handled in accordance with:
  • The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth)
  • The Australian Privacy Principles (APPs)
• Data is encrypted and securely stored
• Only authorised healthcare providers can access your record
• Audio is not permanently stored unless required for processing and is deleted according to strict security protocols

What information is used?

The AI scribe may process:

• Your symptoms and medical history discussed during the consultation
• Relevant clinical details needed for your care

It does not:

• Access unrelated personal data
• Share your information for marketing or non-medical purposes

Your choice matters

Using an AI scribe is optional.

You Have the right to:

• Ask questions about how it works
• Request that the AI scribe is not used during your consultation
• Withdraw consent at any time

Your care will not be affected if you choose not to use this technology.

Are there any risks?

While safeguards are in place:
