Appointments

Consultation is by appointment. Book online through our website or by calling reception. Urgent cases are seen on the day. Standard consultations are 15 minutes duration.

Please book a long appointment (30 minutes) if you would like an insurance or employment  medical, full health check, review of complex or multiple health problems, or counseling for  emotional difficulties. This  practice encourages you to see your preferred GP. Home or Nursing  Home visits by special arrangement.

If you require a vaccination, dressing, ear syringe, iron infusion, minor procedure or anything else  that may require the assistance of one of our nursing staff please advise in the online booking  system or receptionist when making your appointment.

Repeat Prescriptions

A consultation with a doctor is required for all prescriptions.

Telephone Calls

Problems are best dealt with in a consultation. Phone consultations may be available, however  medicare benefits may not be claimable, depending on current medicare rules. Please advise staff is the situation is urgent so the appropriate treatment can be arranged.

Referrals

You will need a referral from your GP prior to a visit to a specialist if you are to claim medicare benefits from the specialist. Please see your GP prior to seeing the specialist, as referrals are not legally able to be backdated.

Test Results

Test Results

Please call the reception for your test results if your doctor has advised this is appropriate.

Medical Certificates

Off work Medical Certificates can be provided by the doctor if you are seen during your illness. Prior illnesses cannot be certified. Certificates cannot be backdated.

Interpreter Services

Interpreter services are available through the National Relay Service (NRS) or Translation and  Interpreter Services (TIS). Our reception staff can offer further information.

Management Of Personal Health Information

Consistent with our commitment to quality care, this practice has developed a policy to protect  patient privacy legislation.  Queens Road Surgery does not encourage the use of email to send or receive patient confidential  medical information. Email communication is not secure and privacy cannot be guaranteed. The  preferred method of electronic communication is through a secure messaging system such as Healthlink. This practice encourages patients to advise their GP of cultural background.

Reminders

The doctors operate a reminder system for certain conditions. Please update your contact details  regularly with the reception staff including your emergency contact. Please advise your doctor or our reception team if you wish to opt out of the reminder system.
