Oxfam Trailwalker Challenge

On Friday 5th October 2018 Dr Gabriel Hammond took part in the Oxfam Trailwalker challenge.

It is a fundraiser for Oxfam, to help support projects that tackle poverty and injustice around the globe.  Teams of 4 have 48 hours to complete 100km course in the Perth hills.

After months of training, Dr Hammond and his team exploded through the starting barrier and did their best to chew through the steep and rocky terrain.

Walking day and night, and supported by a wonderful ground crew and enthusiastic Oxfam volunteers, the team combatted fatigue, blisters and nocturnal rain to complete the 100kms in 23.5 hours.  Out of complete teams finishing, Dr Hammond’s team placed 6th.

The team raised over $3500 and the event raised over $450,000.  Would he do it again?  You’ll have to ask him..
